Book Brahmin? Yes Please.

Release day was very nice! A quiet affair with my lovely little girls and Anna made cupcakes because, you know, any excuse for cupcakes...

I'm really just popping in today to note that I answered some author-questions in comics form for the online publishing newsletter called Shelf Awareness. The comic even gave me an excuse to draw myself giving high fives to some of my favorite authors! (image above, left to right: me, G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis and Neil Gaiman).

You can see the whole thing here.

Just read the full comic. Nice!

I'll have to look into reading some Neil Gaiman. My brother likes his work, and I've run across his name in a variety of places (all good ones). Of the other authors you mention: some of Madeleine L'Engle's books are on my "to read" list already, and I just finished "The Empire of Ivory" a few weeks ago. "Victory of Eagles" is on my shelf waiting to be read, but I'm forcing myself to read some non-fiction interspersed with the really fun fiction fare, which recently included Zita the Spacegirl and Mouse Guard: Fall 1152 - my first graphic novels in decades.

Great interview! It's almost like getting to skype with you and your imagination. Am eagerly awaiting my copy of Zita from Amazon.

Ha! Thanks Meg, and you too Gaelen.

Careful which Gaiman you start with. His books have a wide range from G to R.

I wish I could be shown high fiving my favorite authors. Those are really awesome comics, Ben (Mr. Hatke? what may I call you, exactly?)

I wanted to order ZSG early, but life and school ran away with me and I just kept forgetting. I'm going to Barnes & Noble on Tuesday or tonight to get it, though, for sure and certain! I've even gotten my niece and nephew very excited about it! They love your pictures.

We were in B&N the other day and Christopher asked the clerk if they had Zita and then proceeded to tell her and anyone else who would listen "My Uncle wrote that!!" It was pretty funny. But don't let it go to your head -- if you ask Bella who wrote it, she says "Uncle Martin!" :)

Ben Hatke said...

Oh you're KIDDING! That's the best thing I've heard all day...!

Ach. I can't make MoCCA. Rats. Hope to catch you at some other book event.

Oh well...in the mean time I'll get everyone I know to read it. ^_^
