Sketchbooks

I have two nice sketchbooks right now (pictured below). One was a gift from Anna, the other from my parents. Both are filling up nicely with sketches, doodles and studies.

One of the "Zani" from Commedia del Arte and some sword designs.

From the DVD cover to Cyrano de Bergerac with GĂ©rard Depardieu

Finally, I posted a little Dancing Batman comic at the Flight Forums for anyone interested.

Good Gravy that was fast! I've been thinking of posting that college picture of us when we performed the commedia at Christendom. That picture is actually tucked into one of these sketchbooks.

I think I am addicted to sketchbooks... I have tons of them everytime I turn around I see another one that I think is cool looking and I end up buying it... I think I might need an intervention.

I have to agree that the Zani drawing is awesome...

Great sketches. You have a real sensitivity when you draw eyes. Really wonderful. What kind of sketchbooks are those? They look cool.

Go ahead and post it Ben! I don't recall ever seeing pics for it, but the act certainly a lot of fun.

After the fact, I was really glad I partook in the comedia, since the kids seemed so happy with the performance.

Eric, when left to myself I like to buy pads of Canson Drawing paper for sketchbooks -the paper is really nice to draw on and it takes ink wash and moderate amounts of watercolor really well.

Both these sketchbooks, though, are from Italy. the paper isn't quite as good, but the leather covers sure make them look nicer sitting out on a desk.

And I've also heard good things aobut these Moleskin sketchbooks the young people are using these days. I think they're the hip thing for cofee shop sketching.

I just picked up a moleskine but accidentally bought the unlined note book rather than the sketchbook, they all look the same!

Hi Ben, I found your online work by searching 'sketchbooks', glad I did, really good stuff, though quite naturally I am not the first to say so. The online community of image and idea/thought sharing is a new thing for me, my blog is only a few months old but I am finding it a very positive experience. Power to the Pencil, Paintbrush and Pen.
much Peace, T.

Thanks Tiggi! I bet you got a whole slew of information from searching sketchbooks... Is it because me ConceptArt sketchbook came up?

Where is your blog? I'd like to see it.
