Home From the Lone Star State

Well, my long journey through Texas has come to an end. I visited four schools in Round Rock (plus an awesome book store) and four schools in Frisco. I did quite a few backflips, drew heaps of pictures, spoke to over a thousand kids, ate Texas Barbeque, went on a mini road trip, discovered the delectable joy of Czech pastries, signed a crate of books, visited some circus people, was stalked by a cool homeschool family and finally returned home to my girls who I missed so much.

So kind of a lot happened.

Here are a few pictures...

Chandler Oaks Elementary, Round Rock Texas

Mooneyham Elementary, Frisco Texas

After hours signing! (there were more waiting at Sparks Elementary the next day).

Circus Mode.

Airport Book Signing! The Williams family even drove me to the airport checkin place.

And this, of course, was the best part of the trip. (not pictured is Julia, 5, who was the photographer).

But look how grumpy Zita looks! There's never a moment when all the kids smile at once...

Thanks for sharing a little of your recent tour through Texas Ben! I just checked out Zita the Spacegirl from the library here in Arlington, TX. I read the second book first, but looking forward to reading the origin story. My 7 yr. old son, Jaiden, really enjoyed your latest book too...i'm pretty sure the heart monsters were his favorite :)

It was a pleasure to meet you at The Book Spot in Round Rock! We appreciate you generously signing our "Angel in the Waters" book, too. Henry and Hannah wanted to start reading about Zita that evening after bathtime. Our entire family are now fans of "Zita the Spacegirl."
My husband (Dustin) recognized the name Zita from St. Zita. I wasn't familiar with her, so I looked her up. What a beautiful saint, and how cool that it is your daughter's name!
God bless, Rowena

Hey Jason, I'm glad you guys have discovered the Zita books. I tried to keep the second one easy to jump right into for those that hadn't read the first. It's good to hear that it was accessible.

Rowena, It was nice meeting you too. Thanks for thinking to bring along your copy of Angel. That was a great surprise.
