Books, Beautiful Books.

I love books. I love the smell of old libraries, and bindings and covers and printed illustrations. I still design my books with paper in mind. When drawing comics I design page spreads, rather than individual pages, and I often put a lot of thought into the last image on the right hand page. The image that makes you want to turn that page.

Books can be so beautiful. Maybe if a huge portion of content migrates to digital platforms the books that continue to be physically printed will have a greater emphasis on beauty of form.

A boy can dream.

I totally agree with you. I do like my Kindle, but it will never replace a real bound book. It just isn't the same to curl up in front of the woodstove with a cold piece of plastic and electric glow.

I love this picture! It reminds me of Grace - surrounded by books and apples!!

Agreed! I finally caved and got a Kindle for easier reading while traveling (I actually got less plane sick reading the kindle than a paper book), but I will nevereverever give up loving paper and ink books.

So when are you going to pitch the Hatke Illuminated Gospel? I bet you could find a publisher in a heartbeat.

One of these days... one of these days. ;- )

There is, already, an excellent version of the gospels as comics drawn by a french artist named Jean Francois Kieffer. I really like them.

Loved the book binding clip, Ben. I'm still in denial of the fact that books come in any other way than made of paper.

That video is mesmerizing. It reminds me of Mr. Roger's crayon factory. Have you seen Chip Kidd's TED Talk on designing book covers? He shares your sentiment :)

If you made this into a poster that said, "books, beautiful books" at the bottom, I bet you could sell a ton of them. Every mom would want one for her child's room, especiallyif you did one with a boy also.

Love the illustration and I'm a huge fan of paper books, however digital books have something interesting too! But they can't stop me from buying more and more books for my bookshelf. :)

Connie Sun I hadn't heard about Chip Kidd before. That was a crazy-but-interesting presentation. I loved his story about Jurassic Park.

And mjsconnolly, maybe i'll look into making some Books Beautiful Books prints... They would be good for boys and girls rooms.

I love to read , recently i found one not so well-known author that I think is quite good. His name is Richard Mann and I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in books.

Hello dear friends

How are you? Hope you are well. I want to share an awesome topic with you.Interestingly, there are different ways to bind your book. Simply, it is a method of availing an array of paper sheets and assembling them into a book. Few well-known ways of binding are fabric cover hard case binding, printed cover hard case binding, perfect binding, Coptic style binding, long-stitch binding and many more. In the current scenario, the perfect book binding methods get soaring popularity.Take a look at-book binding

Thanks a lot for reading and for your valuable time.
