Turtles and Hobos

Here I am on a damp and cloudy Monday morning, wondering what kind of week this will be. My mini-vacation is all over and now it’s back to the drawing board...

Yesterday Anna and Angelica disappeared early in the morning to go mushroom hunting. They came back home with a small bag of puffballs, which was nice, but the real surprise was a box turtle that Anna found among the bracken. He stayed with us for the day and in the afternoon the girls and I sat and sketched him. We also drew pictures of Ronia, who has become quite a crawler.

This Saturday (the 24th) I will be at the Baltimore Book Festival. I’ll be speaking at the Children’s Bookstore Stage at 3:30(click the link for more information). If you’re in the area come on by and say hello. Or if hello is too prosaic, then come on by and say some word you made up.

Finally, please excuse the dust around the ol’ blog as I rearrange things a bit.

Sounds like a wonderful day with the girls. Love the sketches. Drawings of babies are always so cool, as they move about so much the drawing itself takes on a sort of transience...sort of like a pleasant memory.

Thanks for sharing, Ben! and so far the new layout is looking really good, too.

Can you eat those mushrooms? I have no idea if I can eat the ones that grow outside my house and the church.
