Making Out (like a bandit!)

Right. So I've been an industrious fellow of late. Since I had a Fire Show this weekend and SPX coming up next weekend, I spent some time on a batch of hand-drawn business cards. Here's a few of the better ones:

Sadly, I wasn't able to get any good pictures from the fire show.

It's been awhile, but I finally have a bit of a woodworking shop here at home and I've been putting it to some use. Last week I made a set of bunk beds for the girls:

...and I made this oak practice sword (more on that soon):

I'm definitely not the ultimate woodworker, but it sure is satisfying.

Hi, Ben! I was wondering if you could recommend any books on illustration. I've been dabbling a little in drawing lately and wanted to polish up my drawings a bit.

Love the bunk beds!

God bless,

Jill, the one book that outshines ALL OTHERS is the time-tested classic: "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way" by Stan Lee and John Buscema.

Just kidding. I'll post a list for you in a bit.

Oh, and thanks nick!

e tanti grazie a te, Anna!

Actually, Ben, maybe i should check out that book. George is always requesting pictures of Superman and the Flash. and that other guy - the Green something-or-other.

Ben Hatke said...

Wait, Jill, you are teasing me on purpose. It's how to draw comics THE MARVEL WAY. Superman, the Flash, and the ...Green something-or-other (AAUGH!!) are the DC heroes!

I'm hyperventilating...

Hmm, the thought of snagging one of those cards has me wondering what reason I can come up with to drive down to Maryland on Saturday. Although the SPX is a good excuse I don't think it is good enough to get me out of painting the living room, which has been planned for a while. :[

whoops....sorry, Ben! I'll learn, someday. Probably whether I want or not.

How 'bout Spiderman? Is he a Marvel guy?

Ben, this is Awesome... every bit of it!! wish I had a pair of practice swords like that. heck I wish I had one of those business cards!

The comic is looking fantastic too! Great fluidity and movement.

Oh man, Tim, painting the living room! I hope it went well.

Thanks Anthony! you know a thing or two about movement and gesture yourself.
