You Like Comics, Right?

This morning I want to point you toward Tony Cliff’s online graphic novel adventure, Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant. It’s the story of a mild mannered, tea-loving lieutenant in Constantinople and how an exotic traveling adventuress changes his life. Also Tony Cliff’s drawings make me cry. Check it out!

And if you’re looking for print comics, two notable books released from First Second this week. They are Dave Roman’s Astronaut Academy, and Vera Brosgol’s YA GN, Anya’s Ghost.

Finally here is a comic I made in 3 minutes about believing in yourself:

Thanks for the heads up on the books. I may have to look for them in the library though as my book buying funds are very low.

I like your very funny 3 minute comic. I hope it turns into a series as we find out how the protaganist reacts to (and survives) his leap of faith.

The three-minute-comic reminds me of an exchange in "Small Gods"

"With faith, anything is possible!"
"Oh, yeah? Try striking a match on jelly, mister."

Thanks for pointing out the Delilah Dirk website! I loved the story about Delilah in one of the Flight books...nice to see what happens next. His work is beautiful.

Hey John, The short DD story from Flight is called The Aquaduct and those pages actually play a part in this story. The whole thing is very good and I really hope i reaches book form.

Ben, did you render this digitally? The repeated elements look like perfect copies (at least to my amateur eye).

Sort of. I drew the first two panels and scanned them in photoshop and copied the last two panels...

(good eye!)
