Mousy Longtail is one of the Bedtime Story Mice and Zita's Role Playing character. One of these days I'll do a big color group action shot of our household characters -Happy the Gnome, Scritch and Scratch, the Christmas Duck and the rest.

Oh an speaking of Role Playing, did anyone see the new "4 Gregs" Homestar Runner cartoon? D n' D Greg is creepily accurate...

I love seeing your sketches in the last few posts! Great work!

and I'm curious about that neat old sword in the header. I don't mean to pry but I'd really like to know where you got it... I'm trying to hand plane a wooden sword now and my hands are screaming "Noooooo!"

Hey Anthony,

The sword in the header is a hand forged bradsword from Starfire Swords (I think you can just Google them)

I got myself a pair of blades from Starfire just after college to do sort of stage combat stuff with. The one in the header is my favorite and is actually pretty banged up from use.

When I have a moment (and when I get my digital camera back) I'll do a post about swords -both wooden and steel.

Ben, when you play rpgs with your kids do you make them up? do you use dice?

Sounds like fun :)

Laura,

We use a game from the book Faery's Tale:

http://www.amazon.com/Faerys-Tale-Deluxe-Patrick-Sweeney/dp/1934547069

It's a very flexible system designed for young children (you can use dice, but you don't have to) where you rolle up and play different finds of fairies. It's a lot of fun.
